At first Acura CL used to be manufactured in the USA. This model occupied the place of its not less popular Acura RL predecessor. The car was manufactured on Honda Accord platform and it first appeared on the market in 1997. It had been interruptedly produced until 2002.
Despite its popularity, the first generation of Acura CL had one essential fault – its power window system failed too often and its owners had to fix it once in a while.
Upgraded version of Acura CL was introduced to the market in 2001 and gained improved technical properties and design. The engine line-up varied from 2,2 to 3,2 power packs. Such cars were either completed with high-speed 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission.
It was a larger car compared to Acura CSX, and this new American possessed the following exterior dimensions: length – 4877, width – 1793, height – 1410. The wheelbase was up to 2715 mm.
The renewed model underwent some interior design changes. The lights were replaced with air ducts and the door handles and front grill were body colored. In general Acura CL was truly customer-oriented.
