In 1996 the North American Honda branch entered the production of Acura SLX. It had been manufactured until 1999 in 4x4 body. The exterior dimensions of the car were: length – 4740 mm, width – 1750 mm, height – 1840 mm. The luggage compartment volume was at least 1465 L and 2550 L at most. Its load-carrying capacity was 920 kg.
This model had only two versions, equipped with petrol engine each. The engine jacket of the most powerful Acura SLX model hosted a 3,5 L 215HP power pack, 4-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive. The front suspension was independent spiral-spring suspension and the rear one was independent and multi-link. Its top speed reached 175 km/h. It took 9 seconds for the car to reach 100 km/h. A milder model was fitted with 3,2L 177HP engine, 5-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The car top speed was 165 km/h. The off-the-line acceleration was 10 seconds for 100 km/h. Acura SLX possessed less impressive technical properties than Acura NSX that had 3,2L 293 HP power pack in its most powerful version.
