The famous French company for production racing, sports and luxury cars. Even in the narrow circle of the legendary cars Bugatti has won a special place.
An engineer and artist Ettore Bugatti founded the company in 1909. In the 20s the world-fame was brought to Bugatti by the Type 35 GP model which had won more than a thousand victories at motor races and which became famous in that time as the most successful model of racing class of Grand Prix. All details of the exterior of the car served one purpose - speed. The car was very stable on difficult routes through a brilliant combination of technical elegance and well-balanced handling characteristics. Leading automotive critics of the time smashed to smithereens first Bugatti design with eight-power unit, model 30 made in 1922, describing it as unaesthetic, noisy and not particularly high-speed.
In 1963 the production facilities of Bugatti devolved to the «Hispano Suiza» company which did not deal with car manufacturing by that time.
In the late 80s the company has experienced a rebirth. The glorious name of Bugatti came up again, when among super cars seeking to overcome the barrier of 300 km/h, there comes a powerful and extraordinary sports car.
In 1999, the trade mark «Bugatti» was bought by the VW Comcern, which planned to re-start production of French super-cars in 2006.
