FSO

The Fabryka Samochodow Osobowych (FSO) was founded in 1951 and was one of the main automobile plants in Poland. One of the most famous FSO cars was Polonez that had been manufactured since 1970-s. In 1996 the plant was repurchased by the South Korean Daewoo, upon which the production of such cars as Espero, Nexia, Matiz, Lanos etc. started. In that same year of 1996 the Fabryka Samochodow Osobowych was renamed as the Daewoo-FSO Motor S.A. Later the Daewoo got some financial problems and it was purchased by the General Motors. However the FSO wasn’t included into the purchase package. Early in the year 2005 Ukrainian company called the UkrAvto, the AvtoZAZ company owner, acquired the controlling interest of the Fabryka Samochodow Osobowych.
