Toyota and Subaru plans to start producing public versions of their coupe GT 86 and BRZ. It is assumed, that such cars will be available in late 2013 or early 2014.
At first glance, from a technical point of view, convertible will be no different from the coupe. The open version will receive the same 2.0-liter engine with 200 hp and the chassis, too should not undergo major changes. But engineers need to work about the rigidity of the body, because the Japanese do not hide the fact, that the main asset of the new model should be sharpened handling.
By the way, it is possible, that on base of Toyota GT and Subaru BRZ 86, will be built other models in future. There is speculation, that this platform will serve as the basis for the four-door sedan.
