Peugeot

Peugeot family has a long history - a few centuries on end it played a prominent role in the French industry. Dealing with the manufacture of bicycles and other simple mechanisms in the late nineteenth century the company ordered Leon Serpolle its first car. The car that runs on steam was viable and participated in the rally of Paris-Lyon. But Armand Peugeot, who headed the bicycle production, was carried away by the idea of internal combustion engines and in 1891 built the first Peugeot with Daimler petrol engine.

The idea took the heart of Armand so much that he has developed a series of 10 models right next year. One of the models attracted worldwide attention during one of the automobile races - and Armand realized that the best advertisement for cars is racing. Increasing car production up to 300 units, Armand founded "Society of Peugeot cars." in 1896.

In the early twentieth century Peugeot invited famous E. Bugatti - the designer who created the first peoples Peugeot car - Peugeot Bebe. Remembering about races, Peugeot continues to build high-speed cars - Peugeot Goux in 1913 made the speed record - 187 km/h. By purchasing a license from engineer E.Teylor, Peugeot introduced the conveyor assembly method.

In 1915, Armand Peugeot died, but the business was continued by other family members. Peugeot is still focused on cheap and affordable cars which rescued the company during the Great Depression.

During the Second World War, Peugeot devolved to Volkswagen, but quickly recovered and within the 60s it has filled the market with midget cars.

In response to the growing prosperity of the average buyer Peugeot, entering into an agreement with the famous designer Pinifarinoy, has built new models of cars of a more serious class. Peugeot produced its millionth sample of the 403 model In 1963.

In our time, Peugeot produces reliable and easy steered models. The emphasis is still made on light cars with small engine displacement - this requirement is put forward by small Europe.
